The Inorganic Refuse Collection On the kerb across the road from Kingsland Station - the normal pile of rubbish. And on the bottom of the bed propped up against the fence, in large neat letters... “You’ve got stuff but you own nothing...”

A little grey dove
landed on the tree
outside my window
I thought of how
the coalman
would run up the drive
when I was a wide-eyed boy on a tricycle,
a huge hesian sack of coal
on his vast shoulders -
a dusty and begrimed god
running from the truck to the coal shed.
Papa Wojtyla said
before he died,
‘I am happy
and you
should
be happy
too.’
